Potraits
Lou Kaplan
Portraits is a series of musical paintings of 8 different women that Lou has met in his recent years. Where the brush and canvas of a artist can only capture one moment of a person, Portraits captures the different characteristics of each woman and expresses it in musical form. Lou calls this music Romantic and Adventurous - 'Thrill of the Chase' music. It is very accessible, melodic and will grow on you with each listen. If you enjoyed the music of Yanni, early John Tesh, or Kitaro, then this one's for you.
Into The Hall Of Illusion - This piece begins the journey through the Art Gallery. It starts mysterious, as if entering another dimension - and then builds in a strong rhythm as the portraits begin to materialize.
Portrait Of Jean - A woman of free spirit - transcends the mortal world through flight.
Portrait Of Kathy (Variations On A Theme Of Greensleeves) - A career oriented woman, who liked to take control of a situation but not to dominate it.
Portrait Of Teri - A caring personality but has a lack of direction. The impact of a shattered romance of her past shows upon her face.
Portrait Of Pat - Dark and forbidding.
Portrait Of Laura - A woman with 3 sides to her - one is passive, one moody, and one highly active like a whirlwind.
Portrait Of Nancy (Amish Eyes) - A simple woman; plain, uncomplicated and basic, but does not know what she wants out of life. This is the only song sung on the CD with the vocals by Lou.
Portrait Of Antoinette - A yielding woman, submissive, but restrained. This piece begins where it ends and takes the listener into a walk in the woods during the fall.
Portrait Of Deborah - A woman who disguised her wonderful positive character with a mysterious and elusive personality. This is the longest portrait that clocks in at over 13 minutes.
Sun Shower - This is the last picture inside the gallery. Instead of a Portrait we see
a Landscape with the sun breaking through in the middle of the rain. Will this be the start of a CD sequel?
